How Quote Calculation Works
If you quote a client your net fee without adding GST, you will be liable to pay the GST out of your own pocket. To prevent this, you must add the GST rate on top of your fee:
Billing Amount (Invoice Value) = Desired Net Payout × (100 + GST Rate) ÷ 100
For example, to take home a net amount of ₹50,000 for service billing (18% GST), you must invoice the client for:
₹50,000 × 1.18 = ₹59,000.
The ₹9,000 is tax collected, which you pay to the government, keeping ₹50,000.
